“Why is there a small military cemetery adjoining the churchyard at Beachley which is, with a few exceptions, full of the graves of Italian and German soldiers who died in the early years of the second world war. Most were in their early twenties. Were they killed in battle? If so why are their graves here?”

    Hi Ruth
    The reason there are graves at Beachley camp is that as in WW1 there were a small number of POWs stationed there to help with building work

    I’ve not joined Society yet but i’ve purchased the Roll of Honour CD terrific a number of my relatives are on there The Yemms. My Great Uncle Thomas Yemm is on the Miners Memorial. All involved should be proud of their efforts
